I planned a podcast out today, but wasn't able to finish it, so I am taking the time I dedicated to publishing the show to write an email.
Not ideal, but my juices have been flowing all day.
For instance, I allotted an hour of my day to update and maintain my websites. I didn't have a contingency plan for when things ultimately go haywire. Which, of course, they did today.
When you run up against things like not being able to log into your website and it takes 60 minutes of "chatting" with someone at a "help" desk, instead of arguing with a helpless helper, it's probably wise just to adjust.
I didn't. My workflow got torpedoed.
Later in the day, my son wanted to sit in on the podcast. He's 6 and very excited about “recording.” So much so that his running monologue in the background didn't help what I had to say.
"Be quiet and don't interrupt," has a dynamic definition, I guess.
So, long way of saying that it's good to re-evaluate our plans.
After I was able to get into my website, I published the beginning of our Time Management resource page.
What I wrote a few days ago, hit me square between the eyes later in the afternoon.
My biggest “tip” in the solo-preneur world is to “Just Start.” Create your own strategy. If that strategy falters, re-evaluate it.
Develop new strategies if necessary.
Do not depend on little tricks to do your work. You do the work. Let the tactics you learn (or develop) help you execute your strategy.
Ours is a life of constant preparation. We must test our methods, check our strategy…and do the work.
Don’t simply think about the next thing you might do. Develop a plan. Work the strategy. Become a resounding success.
Time management or productivity is no secret, but there is a lot of information out there. I started a resource page today.
Our page may help.
As always,
Brian
