Why the Credentialed Class Hates the Insider
The Scavenger’s Endgame
Yesterday, we exposed the hypocrisy of Jeff Pearlman’s manufactured outrage over Jay Glazer’s “access journalism.” The response from our readership was immediate and telling.
One reader “laughed” at Jack Callahan’s description of Pearlman’s posturing as “a wolf whining about the cholesterol in the sheep.” Another, a recovering journalism major, pleaded (tongue-in-cheek) with us to keep his academic past a secret.
But it was a third subscriber who cut straight to the bone, asking:
“I’m not even sure what Pearlman’s end game is. Is he friends with Russini or hate Glazer? Isn’t the entire point of journalism to build professional relationships with the gatekeepers of information? Is he unable to discern the difference between a professional and personal relationship?”
That is the definitive question. It exposes the rotten core of the modern media establishment.
Pearlman’s endgame is status masquerading as morality. He cannot discern the difference between a professional relationship and a personal one because, to the scavenger, all human connection is merely material for the butcher block.
We saw this firsthand in Chicago. Walter Payton was an American titan of singular grace and physical endurance. When he was dying, Pearlman did not seek to understand him or build a professional relationship with the gatekeepers of Payton’s legacy. He authored a deliberate desecration.
In his book Sweetness, Pearlman rummaged through the most painful, private moments of a dying man’s life. He devastated Payton’s widow and children. He inflicted this cruelty not to serve the historical record, but to generate sensational headlines and collect easy royalties.
Now, this same man demands a professional excommunication for Jay Glazer because Glazer serves brisket to NFL coaches.
The media elite despise Glazer because he is unapologetically transactional. He trades beer and barbecue for facts. It is raw, effective, and completely bypasses the guild’s polished filters.
While I’m not a fan of his, Glazer builds relationships. Pearlman exploits them.
The credentialed class demands the destruction of careers over a pool party invitation, yet they expect polite applause when they strip the dignity from a hero like Walter Payton.
We are governed by hypocrites who mistake their own malice for morality. They hold the public in contempt and demand to be treated as high priests of objective reality.
Stop letting scavengers dictate your reality.
