Consider a paid subscription to The O’Leary Review

In 1924, the great Baltimorean man of letters, H. L. Mencken, co-founded The American Mercury, a monthly publication which soon swept the nation.

If he hadn’t already been, Mencken quickly became a national phenomenon.

Mencken said of the Mercury that it was

“a serious review, the gaudiest and damnedest ever seen in the Republic.”

As for us, we aim to be a serious publication aimed at serious people.

It probably won’t be the gaudiest and sure won’t be the damnedest, but we’ll provide you with “elegantly irreverent observations of America,” which is what Mencken aimed for in the Mercury.

At our essence we are an old-school blog.

After a couple years of dabbling with daily emails on this platform, our methods have changed slightly. We will still regularly produce “longer-form” content here and our weekly “column” and all of our podcasts will still be available on Substack for our folks.

For the more pithy daily emails that we write, make sure to sign up for our daily “letter” :

The O'Leary Letter

Join via the free subscription link to get full access to our emails, columns, podcasts, and the O’Leary Review website here on Substack. Never miss an update.

Most of the The O’Leary Review is free for the reader, but to keep our doors open around here, on occasion, we will produce content for paid subscribers-only.

Currently, annual subscription plans pencil-out to less than 14¢ per day. Such a deal.

Stay up-to-date

You won’t have to worry about missing anything. Every new edition of the newsletter is mailed directly to your inbox.

A note on affiliate links

We sometimes use affiliate links as a way to help us support the production for our newsletter, website, and podcast. Affiliate marketing is a widely used practice and some of the biggest brands on the planet use it.

If you click on one of these links and make a purchase, there is a chance we may make a small commission. We’re careful about the products and services we recommend. If we believe that they held little to no value, we wouldn’t recommend them.

With that in mind, go ahead and assume that all links are affiliate links. Do your own due diligence before making a purchase. What is right for us may not be your solution. If you know what you want to achieve, this may make decisions about what to purchase much easier.

I am required to disclose:

“As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”

As always,
