I use that Sobran quote so often. I'm a proud. real extremist.
I'll quibble with you here, though . . .
> And it is not the government, per se, that is bad—that’s another argument for another day. The problem, particularly in regard to “interference,” is the people within the current regime. They only make things worse.
. . . the problem is definitely the government, per se. Coercive civil authority is inherently, intrinsically evil, no matter who the officials are and where they aim their systemic violence (like I said, I'm a real extremist :-) ).
Thanks. I believe there are good guys & there are bad guys.
Systemic violence against bad guys is not always evil. For instance, the good guys fought back against the bad guys in the Spanish Civil War. Systemic violence on the part of the good guys stopped the genocide that was happening under the bad guys.

Dominic,

Like Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, I believe good and evil are descriptions of actions, not persons, because no person fits either modifier all the time: https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/450864-the-line-separating-good-and-evil-passes-not-through-states
I really am an extremist; we do exist :-)
Fair enough. We quibble on specifics, but are on the same side. That’s important today (perhaps always).
Thanks for taking the time!
